About Us

Hirsitikka Ltd

Log craft that endures both time and gaze.

Hirsitikka is a family company from the Finnish archipelago crafting premium, handcrafted log lodges, homes and villas since 2008. Every log is individually selected and scribed to respect its natural shape while removing as little material as possible during fitting. Our goal is simple — to build log architecture that endures for generations and feels naturally at home in the present.

Hirsitikka has a long-standing connection with the International Log Builders’ Association (ILBA) and is a member of the Finnish Log Builders’ Association (Hirsitaito ry). These professional connections help us stay current with best practices and research in timber construction worldwide.

A properly designed, artisan-made log home has a low ecological footprint and supports a stable, comfortable indoor climate through the hygroscopic properties of solid wood. It is unique, timeless and made to endure for generations. In a sought-after location, and when the architecture itself has lasting significance, a handcrafted log home may even grow in value over time. When you pass it to the next generation, you pass on more than a building — you pass on a way of living.

If Timo’s ear protection is on tight in the atelier, Hanna is the one to call.

Place — Naantali Archipelago

We work on Livonsaari, the last island along the route accessible without a ferry — a setting that suits us perfectly. The surrounding nature, archipelago light and slow rhythm of the sea shape our sense of proportion, patience and precision.

Atelier, Capacity & Coordination

Our primary production takes place under cover in our ~800 m² log-built atelier, equipped with a bridge crane and a Wood-Mizer bandsaw. Under one roof, we can pre-build handcrafted log shells for homes and villas up to approximately 500 m².

For larger or international projects, we also coordinate production in carefully vetted partner workshops under Hirsitikka supervision, ensuring precision, surface quality and schedule reliability. On site, our own crew manages re-assembly and final log-work detailing — so every project bears our mark of craftsmanship and precision.

Material

We keep a ready stock of slow-grown Nordic pine — dense, stable, and ideal for long-lasting handcrafted structures. Each log is pre-selected for its density, grain character, and natural beauty. Every building is labelled with our logo, year, and individual log shell number — a mark of authentic craft and accountability.
